About this role

You'll join a small engineering team building the leading legal AI for tax & law professionals. Your work will be in front of practitioners at Big Four firms, mid-market practices, and barristers' chambers — often within hours of shipping.

Our stack is TypeScript and Python, with a React front-end, Postgres, and a retrieval layer built on top of vector and full-text indexing across legal corpora. You'll work across the stack, but we expect strong product instincts and a bias toward shipping.

What you'll do

• Own meaningful surface area within months of joining — most engineers ship a citation-engine feature inside their first 30 days

• Work directly with customers to understand workflows in practice

• Make architecture decisions that span retrieval, ranking, and UI

• Contribute to our internal tooling for the legal research team

Help us scale from 1,000+ to 10,000+ firms over the next 24 months

What we're looking for

• 5+ years building production software

• Strong front-end fluency (React, TypeScript) and back-end comfort (Python or similar)

• Experience with information retrieval, search, or LLM-adjacent systems is a plus

• Calm, considered approach to product decisions

• Comfortable in a small distributed team where roles are loose

Nice to have

• Legal-tech or fintech background

• Previous Series A–B startup experience

• Interest in or experience with legal research as a domain
